Fall Creative Mentorship Program — Position Outline

Type: Unpaid mentorship / learning placement
Length: [13 weeks] — September 9, 2025 to December 5, 2025
Location: Greater Toronto Area — on location for shoots + occasional remote prep sessions

Purpose of the Program

This placement is designed to give an emerging creative the opportunity to learn directly from a working commercial & lifestyle photographer through real-world production environments.


You will shadow, assist, and practice skills while receiving guidance and feedback.

Learning Opportunities

  • Observe and participate in pre-production research and creative planning.

  • Learn how to prepare a set, handle gear, and manage production flow.

  • Practice behind-the-scenes content capture for social media, with feedback on creative and technical approach.

  • See client/crew interactions and learn industry etiquette.

  • Get exposure to workflow, file management, and creative decision-making during live shoots.

What’s Expected from You

  • Be present for all scheduled shoots (dates provided in advance).

  • Bring a curious, self-motivated, and professional attitude.

  • Respect client confidentiality and brand guidelines.

  • Use your own camera/phone for practice BTS capture (when applicable).

  • Complete short reflection notes after shoots about what you learned (for your own portfolio/tracking).

Proposed Timeline

  • Week 1: Orientation, safety briefing, overview of workflow and client specifics.

  • Weeks 2–12: Attend shoots, shadow pre-production tasks, BTS shooting opportunities with feedback.

  • Final Week: Portfolio review + career development discussion.
